Fabian Bernhard will present his current and former research results:
"Discrete and Self-conscious Emotions in Family Businesses and beyond"
Organizations and especially family firms are a fertile ground for individual and collective emotional dynamics. In his presentation he will show selected findings from his research on discrete emotions in family businesses. A particular focus will be on so-called self-conscious emotions, such as shame, guilt, pride, envy, etc.
His findings indicate that even negative emotions can have positive/beneficial effects for individuals, organizations, and society overall.
Fabian Bernhard’s current topics of interest revolve around the intersection of organizational behavior, organizational psychology, and family business research. In particular, Fabian is interested in the emotional dynamics in family businesses, moral emotions , the education and preparation of next generational family business leaders, as well as all kinds of attachment to the family business, such as psychological ownership, commitment, social identity, and their influence on the decision-making process in family businesses.
Fabian Bernhard, PhD, is Associate Professor of Management and Member of the Family Business Center at EDHEC, France
